Vientiane, April 2 (AseanAll) — General Khamtay Siphandone, former President of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee, Lao former State President, and senior revolutionary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party, passed away at 10:30 AM on April 2,2025 at the age of 102,according to Lao News Agency KPL.
His death was attributed to old age.
To express profound gratitude and deepest mourning for General Khamtay Siphandone, the Party Central Committee, National Assembly, Government of the Lao PDR, and the Lao Front for National Development have declared five days of national mourning from April 3 to 7, 2025.
Official memorial services will be held at the National Convention Centre, Vientiane.
All celebratory parties, sports, cultural, and entertainment activities are banned during the national mourning.
