Singapore’s people-to-people donation of 10 tons of food and consumer goods to arrive for Myanmar flood victims

The people of Singapore have donated approximately 10 tons of food and consumer goods to the people affected by the Myanmar floods through the Myanmar Embassy, and it will promote the friendship between the two peoples, which is the most fundamental part of bilateral relations, said the Myanmar Embassy in Singapore.

The Singapore Sinhala Buddhist Association Mahakaruna Buddhist Society and the Willing Hearts Social Aid Society in Singapore have sent 10 tons of consumer goods such as bags of nutritious rice, adult and children garments, jackets, hats, shoes food and bath soap to flood-affected areas as humanitarian aid due to recent heavy rains in some regions and states of Myanmar, resulting in floods.

From 23 to 27 September, Myanmar National Airways (MNA) and Myanmar Airways International (MAI), which are flying from Singapore to Yangon, transported the donated items free of charge for the benefit of the flood-affected Myanmar people. The first batch of two tons of aids arrived at Yangon International Airport on 23 and 24 September.

The items donated by the people of Singapore through relevant charity organizations will be distributed to flood victims across Myanmar according to the programme of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement.

The Myanmar Embassy is working with the Singapore Sinhala Buddhist Association Mahakaruna Buddhist Society and the Willing Hearts Association in Singapore to facilitate the delivery of donations to the flood-affected people of Myanmar. It will also promote the friendship between the two peoples, which is the most fundamental part of the relationship between Myanmar and Singapore, the Myanmar Embassy in Singapore stated.
