Myanmar has more than 400,000 areas of winter corn cultivation and the corn market is fetching a good price in local and foreign, according to an official of Myanmar Corn Industrial Association (MCIA).
Min Khaing, Chairman, MCIA said "At the end of this month, winter corn will start to harvest. The corns that are sold in the current market are the rain corns cultivated in 2022. The corns’ price has been increasing without decline since it appears. Currently, the corn price is around 1,280 kyats per viss in the market. The corns are mainly sold to the feedstuff mills in Myanmar. The price of corns has risen in foreign market and also the consumption rates are increasing in regional countries such as China, Thailand, India and the Philippines. At the time of surging the corn prices, growers should properly store and maintain to improve the corn quality."
Myanmar normally exports corns to Vietnam, India, and Philippines through sea route and to Thailand and China through the border gates. The winter corns are currently grown around Nay Pyi Taw, Kachin state, Ayeyawady, Bago (north), Mandalay and Magway regions.(Myanmar International TV )
