China responds that USA, Japan and Netherlands to restrict the export of semiconductor equipment to China

Beijing,  January 31, 2023(AseanAll) -The spokesman of the Chinese Foreign Ministry responded on January 30 to the news that the United States, Japan and the Netherlands would restrict the export of relevant semiconductor equipment to China.

At the regular press conference of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China on January 30, the Associated Press reporter asked: There have been reports in recent days about an agreement reached by the US with Japan and the Netherlands to limit the export of equipment to China that's needed to build advanced semiconductors. Do you have any comment or response to these reports?

Ms. Mao Ning, spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, replied that The US has been abusing export controls, coercing and roping in countries to form small blocs designed to contain China, politicizing tech and trade issues and using them as a weapon and bringing down market rules and the international economic and trade order, in order to hold on to its hegemony and serve its selfish agenda. “China is firmly against this,”She said.

Mao said that such practices serve no one’s interests. They destabilize global industrial and supply chains and have given rise to global concerns. Many from the business community believe that the abuse of export controls will create levels of disruption and affect efficiency and innovation.

"Anyone who attempts to block others’ way will only have his own path blocked.," said Mao Ning.

The spokesman said that China would  closely follow the developments and firmly defend its legitimate interests.

“Parties concerned need to act with prudence and approach this issue in light of their own long-term interests and the common interests of the international community, ”she urged.
