Phnom Penh, January 19, 2023(AseanAll)--As the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival )is approaching, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen said that "more and more Cambodians celebrate the Spring Festival".
According to Cambodian media reports, Hun Sen made the above remarks on January 19 when he inspected the construction of the "Techo Santepheap National Hospital" under construction in Phnom Penh.
He said that Cambodian people celebrate three New Year's festivals every year, including the International New Year's Day, the Chinese New Year and the Cambodian New Year.
"Many Cambodians have become Chinese now. In my village, only 10 percent of the villagers used to stick couplets and celebrate the Spring Festival, but now 70 to 80 percent of the villagers celebrate the Spring Festival." Hun Sen said.
Hun Sen also said that his wife is of Chinese descent and that every year their sons and grandchildren accompany her to their hometown for Chinese New Year.
"My wife is of Chinese descent, and every year our sons and grandchildren go home with her for the Spring Festival."
With the Chinese New Year approaching, Hun Sen reminded the public to strictly observe epidemic prevention measures and obey traffic rules to reduce the incidence of car accidents.
