Kunming, January 6, 2023（AseanAll）As of January 5, 2023, the total number of passenger trips made by China-Laos railway exceeded 9 million.

As a landmark project of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, the 1,035-km China-Laos Railway connects Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province, with the Laotian capital Vientiane.The Railway was put into operation on December 3, 2021.

According to the information of China Railway Kunming Bureau Group，the China-Laos Railway has greatly facilitated the travel of people along the line since its opening more than a year ago, and has been favored by the majority of passengers. By January 5, 2023, the total number of passengers has exceeded 9 million. Among them, 7.54 million passenger trips were registered in the railway's China section, while about 1.46 million were logged in its Laos section. 

As China relaxes epidemic prevention and control measures, compensatory travel demand for tourism and family visits has been activated, and China-Laos railway passenger flow has gradually picked up. Since the beginning of this year, the average daily number of China-Laos railway passengers has reached 29,000, nearly double that of the same period last year.

To meet the needs of passengers, the China-Laos Railway has increased the number of bullet trains on its China section, with an average of 20 pairs per day and 26,000 passengers per day. The passenger flow of the Laos section also increased steadily, from 2 pairs in the initial stage to 5 pairs in the peak period, sending more than 6,000 passengers per day.

It is understood that with the Spring Festival（Chinese New Year） approaching, China Railway Kunming Bureau Group will further scientific analysis of passenger travel needs, constantly increase capacity investment, flexible passenger trains, optimize train service measures, to meet passenger travel needs.
