(AseanAll) — On September 17, 2026, at the Plenary Hall, Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, Bangkok, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul attended a gala dinner on occasion of the 77th anniversary of the founding of People’s Republic of China.
Upon arrival, the Prime Minister was welcomed by the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to Thailand Wu Zhiwu. He presented the Chargé d’Affaires ad interim with a floral vase as a gesture of congratulations before standing, together with distinguished guests, in tribute to Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debayavati.
The Prime Minister then conveyed congratulations on behalf of the Thai Government, commending China today as a leading nation whose development not only creates opportunities and enhances the well-being of the Chinese people, but also plays a vital role in driving economic progress and development across the region and the world. Thailand is undergoing a major transition, with the Government striving to advance economic restructuring in a bid to lay the foundation for strong, sustainable, and inclusive growth, while enhancing Thailand’s role in contributing to regional prosperity.
The Prime Minister mentioned the celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Thailand and China last year, and highlighted the historic significance of the Royal Visit to China by His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen. This year marks the beginning of the “Golden 50 Years” of relations between the two countries.
The Prime Minister also recalled his first official visit to China as Prime Minister in July, during which he met with leading Chinese technology companies, Thai private sector representatives, and inaugurated the BOI office in Chengdu, all of which demonstrate Thailand’s commitment to expanding economic opportunities with China. He also had meetings with President Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Li Qiang, and Chairman of the National People’s Congress Zhao Leji, who agreed to elevate Thai–Chinese cooperation in 3 key areas:
First are peace and security. Thailand and China will work together in promoting regional peace and stability in the region, upholding international frameworks and norms, and prioritizing people’s safety, particularly through cooperation to swiftly eradicate online scam networks from the region.
Second are opportunities for the future. Both countries agreed to advance cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and tourism, in parallel with enhancing connectivity in logistics and digital sectors. They will also encourage joint investment in technology, innovation, and future industries to create new economic opportunities and promote long-term growth.
Third are sustainable quality of life. Thailand and China will work together to promote sustainable development and high-quality investment, while preserving ecosystems and addressing environmental challenges, i.e., water and air pollution, in order to improve people’s quality of life in a sustainable manner.
In closing, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes for the enduring, stable, and flourishing friendship between the people of Thailand and China. Both countries will continue to create new opportunities and move forward together toward a prosperous future.
