Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Holds the Symposium of China-Myanmar People-to-People Bond

Yangon, May 26 (AseanAll)  — On May 26th, 2026,the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar held a Symposium of China-Myanmar People-to-People Bond and the Second Quarter China-Myanmar Media Tea Party in Yangon. 

Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia, U Aye Chan, a member of the Pyithu Hluttaw of Myanmar, relevant officials from Myanmar’s Ministry of Information, Chen Tao, President of Bank of China (Hong Kong) Ltd Yangon Branch, Piao Bo, Managing Director of CITIC Myanmar, and around 160 representatives from more than 40 media outlets, think tanks, academic communities and business communities of China and Myanmar attended the event. Minister Counselor Zheng Zhihong presided over the event.

Ma Jia stated that China and Myanmar share a profound pauk-phaw friendship forged and deepened over millennia of cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and the two countries have always stood side by side through thick and thin. She stressed the need to further carry out exchanges and dialogue, tell stories of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries well, and build a bridge between the two peoples to eliminate misunderstandings and estrangement, enhance friendship and mutual understanding, pursue common development and revitalization, and strengthen people-to-people bonds.

The event was held in a cordial and interactive atmosphere. Participants had in-depth discussions on narrowing cognitive gaps, ensuring objective and impartial reporting, countering disinformation, strengthening youth exchanges, and fulfilling corporate social responsibilities, and offered suggestions to consolidate the public opinion foundation for bilateral friendship.
