Cambodian PM Announces to Welcome Chinese Tourists

Phnom Penh, January 02, 2023(AseanAll)Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced to welcome Chinese tourists to Cambodia without restrictions.

Earlier, China announced that it would reopen its borders on January 8, 2023.

Hun Sen made the remarks while he and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian were presiding over the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a bridge across the Mekong River in Kratie province on Monday (January 02).

Hun Sen said that he warmly welcomed Chinese tourists to Cambodia.

He said that when the COVID-19 epidemic broke out in China in 2020, he made a retrograde visit to China, which demonstrated the solidarity and special friendship between Cambodia and China. At that time, Chinese netizens said that they would travel to Cambodia after the epidemic.

After the reopening, tens of millions or even hundreds of millions of Chinese tourists will travel around the world, including Cambodia, he said.

He believed that Cambodia would be the preferred destination for Chinese tourists to travel abroad, and hoped that Cambodia could receive 2 million Chinese tourists this year, which would greatly help Cambodia's economy to achieve rapid growth.
