Celebrating 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties, Indonesia and Romania Launch Joint Logo and Host Tourism Forum

(AseanAll)  — The Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest and Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs have officially launched the logo commemorating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2025, marking the deep partnership between the two nations since 1950. Indonesian Ambassador to Romania, Meidyatama Suryodiningrat, emphasized that bilateral ties have evolved beyond political aspects and are built on mutual trust.

"Seventy-five years ago, a young nation that had just gained independence needed support, and Romania stood as a true friend by recognizing the sovereignty of this young republic de facto," Ambassador Meidyatama stated in his remarks at The Unveiling of the 75th Anniversary Logo of Indonesia-Romania Diplomatic Relations & Indonesia-Romania Tourism Forum in Bucharest on March 10,2025.

Echoing Ambassador Meidyatama’s sentiments, Romania’s Director for Asia-Pacific and Latin America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Diana Tase, also reflected on the longstanding ties between the two nations. "For 75 years, Indonesia has been a key partner for Romania in Asia. Together, we have built strong relations based on trust, mutual respect, and shared prosperity," Director Tase noted.

The commemorative logo features a ribbon in the colors of both nations' flags, incorporating elements from Indonesia’s Garuda Pancasila and Romania’s National Coat of Arms. These symbols represent connection and continuity, reflecting the unity and enduring partnership between Indonesia and Romania.

The logo launch marks the beginning of a series of events celebrating the 75th anniversary of Indonesia-Romania diplomatic relations throughout 2025. Bilateral ties date back to Romania’s recognition of Indonesia’s sovereignty in 1950 and President Soekarno’s visit to Bucharest. Since then, both countries have continued to strengthen their partnership, enhancing cooperation and synergy for mutual prosperity.

In addition to the logo launch, the Indonesian Embassy in Bucharest is expanding cooperation in the tourism sector by hosting the Indonesia-Romania Tourism Forum. Ambassador Meidyatama highlighted the growing people-to-people connections between the two countries.

"In the past two years, the number of Indonesian citizens in Romania has more than doubled, while over 52,000 Romanians have visited Indonesia. This reflects the strengthening ties between our people, which also serves as the foundation for this tourism forum," he said.

Director Tase also expressed hopes for closer collaboration and expanded partnerships between the two nations. "As a member of the European Union, Romania is committed to deepening its relationship with Indonesia, which holds a strategic role as a founding member of ASEAN and a gateway to Southeast Asia," she stated.

The event was attended by representatives from Romania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Indonesia’s Honorary Consul Emil Sirbu, as well as tourism industry delegates from the Association of Indonesian Tours and Travel Agencies (ASITA) and the National Association of Travel Agencies of Romania (ANAT). Guests were welcomed with the traditional Tor-Tor dance from North Sumatra and enjoyed Indonesian delicacies such as cendol, kue lapis, pastel, bakso, nasi goreng, tempe mendoan, and sate ayam.
