Myanmar, India enhance existing long-standing friendly relations, cooperation

Nay Pyi Taw, May 11(AseanAll)  — Myanmar top leader Min Aung Hlaing and Indian Ambassador Mr Abhay Thakur emphasized the enhancement of friendly relations, cooperation, and the relationship between Myanmar and India as both countries are in good neighbourhoods, according to Myanmar News Agency.

Chairman of the State Administration Council of Myanmar,Myanmar Prime Minister, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing held talks at the ceremony to accept Credentials from Ambassador of India to Myanmar Mr Abhay Thakur at the Credential Hall of the Office of SAC Chairman in Nay Pyi Taw on May 10, 2024.

Indian Ambassador Mr Abhay Thakur presented his Credentials to Min Aung Hlaing at the SAC Chairman’s Office.

They cordially discussed cooperation in defence issues between Myanmar and India.

Both sides also focused on peace and stability in border regions as well as regional development, management for running direct flights between them, promotion of bilateral trade, and sending of scholar students for further studies.

They also cordially talked about political progress in Myanmar and preparations to hold a free and fair multiparty democratic general election.

Also, present at the ceremony were SAC Joint Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, Myanmar Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe and Director-General U Wunna Han of the Protocol Department.
