Jakarta, July 15 (AseanAll)  — The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Sugiono, received a cortesy call from the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN,Hou Yanqi, in Jakarta, on July 15 ,2025. 

The meeting discussed various follow-ups from the ASEAN–China Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC) that took place last week in Kuala Lumpur.

In the meeting, Sugiono emphasized the importance of synergy between ASEAN and China in realizing a peaceful, stable, and prosperous region. “The ASEAN-China partnership is one of the main pillars in maintaining regional stability and economic growth. ”Indonesia supports the implementation of various concrete collaborations that can provide tangible benefits to the ASEAN community," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.

Both parties also discussed the implementation plan for the ASEAN–China Plan of Action 2026–2030, the plan to sign ACFTA 3.0 at the upcoming ASEAN-China Summit in October, and regional cooperation within the framework of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).

"We hope that China continues to play an active role in promoting inclusive regional economic integration and exploring various untapped cooperation potentials," concluded Foreign Minister Sugiono.

On that occasion, Sugiono also expressed appreciation for the commitment of the PRC to sign the SEANWFZ Protocol without reservations. This is considered an important contribution to efforts to maintain long-term peace and stability in the Southeast Asian region.

China has been a comprehensive strategic partner of ASEAN since 2021 and has been recorded as ASEAN's largest trading partner for 16 consecutive years.
