Bangkok, July 16 (AseanAll) — On July 16, 2025, Thai Deputy Government Spokesperson Sasikarn Watthanachan disclosed that Chiang Mai has been named the No. 1 City in Asia in the Travel + Leisure World’s Best Awards 2025 with 91.94 points, whereas Bangkok ranks 3rd, after Tokyo (91.39 points), with 91.34 points.
According to Travel + Leisure, a renowned tourism and lifestyle online platform, Chiang Mai is praiseworthy not only for its superiority in culture, ways of life, local food, and hospitality, but also wide-ranging tourist attractions, e.g., Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep, green and mountainous nature, beautiful national parks, etc. It also boasts various environmental activities, such as elephant feeding and washing, which have attracted a lot of tourists.
