(AseanAll) — On June 25, 2026, the celebration marking the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Brunei was held in Bandar Seri Begawan. The event was co-hosted by the China Public Diplomacy Association (CPDA), the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Brunei Darussalam, and the Brunei-China Friendship Association.

Ms. Tong Xiaoling, Vice President of the China Public Diplomacy Association who was visiting Brunei, H.E. Chen Shaochun, Chinese Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Yang Mulia Pengiran Norhashimah binti Pengiran Mohd Hassan, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Muhammad Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman, President of the Brunei-China Friendship Association, as well as nearly 300 representatives from the Brunei government, Legislative Council, media, think tanks, universities, and local Chinese community attended the celebration. The cultural delegation from Quanzhou, Fujian Province presented splendid performances of intangible cultural heritage, including Nanyin, string puppet show,and display of cultural and creative products.
Guests and representatives from various sectors spoke highly of the achievements of China-Brunei relations. They agreed that the growing friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries have brought tangible benefits to both peoples. They expressed confidence that, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state and through the joint efforts of both sides, the China-Brunei Strategic Cooperative Partnership and the building of a China-Brunei community with a shared future will continue to make solid progress and reach new heights.

From June 24 to 26, Ms. Tong Xiaoling led a delegation to visit Brunei. In addition to attending the celebration, the delegation also held friendly exchanges with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brunei Darussalam and other organizations.
