Dili, February 17 (AseanAll)  — On February 17th, 2026，the first day of the Chinese New Year of the Horse, the Chinese Embassy in Timor-Leste was festively decorated as it hosted the “Celebrating the Spring Festival Together” New Year reception. 

Chinese Ambassador to Timor-Leste Ms. Wang Wenli, together with all members of the Embassy, warmly welcomed representatives from Chinese business associations, enterprises, the medical team, and the overseas Chinese community in Timor-Leste to celebrate the Chinese Spring Festival and renew friendship. Timorese Vice-Prime Minister Mr. Francisco Kalbuadi Lay attended the event and joined the guests in exchanging New Year greetings.

The reception featured a vibrant and festive atmosphere. The beating of drums and a lively lion dance performance lifted everyone’s spirits and brought good luck, while laughter and cheerful conversations filled the air. Guests exchanged warm greetings of “Happy Chinese New Year,” expressing their shared hope for the prosperity of China, the well-being of its people, and the enduring China-Timor-Leste friendship for generations to come.

Ambassador Wang Wenli and Vice-Prime Minister Francisco Kalbuadi Lay jointly gave an interview to multiple media outlets, including Timor-Leste’s National Radio and Television (RTTL) and the Timor-Leste National News Agency (Tatoli).
