Lao President Receives Credentials from Foreign Envoys, Appoints New Lao Ambassadors

Vientiane, February 17 (AseanAll)  — Thongloun Sisoulith, President of Lao PDR, received credentials from seven newly appointed foreign ambassadors on February 17,2026 in Vientiane, reaffirming Laos’ commitment to strengthening international cooperation.

The accredited diplomats represent Thailand, Finland, Egypt, Georgia, Austria, Lithuania and Slovakia. 

The President expressed confidence that their diplomatic missions will further enhance friendship and expand cooperation with Laos in key areas including trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges. 

Thongloun  also encouraged the envoys to visit provinces across the country to observe development progress and promote investment opportunities.

The ambassadors expressed appreciation for the warm reception and pledged to work to deepen bilateral relations and deliver mutual benefits for their countries and the Lao people.

On the same day, President Thongloun presented credentials to three newly appointed Lao ambassadors departing for overseas missions. 

He urged them to actively promote bilateral cooperation, mobilize international support for national development, and enhance Laos’ global engagement.

The President emphasized that diplomatic efforts should contribute to poverty reduction and support the national objective of graduating from Least Developed Country status by 2026.
