Beijing, February 3 (AseanAll) — On February 3, 2026, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing with Special Envoy of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam (CPV) Central Committee, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPV Central Committee and Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung.

Wang Yi extended congratulations on the success of the 14th National Congress of the CPV. He said that General Secretary Xi Jinping and General Secretary To Lam recently held phone talks, during which they agreed that both China and Viet Nam should keep to their paths and not sway in their commitment, unite and cooperate to promote development, and draw up a grand blueprint for deepening the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
Wang Yi expressed the belief that the new CPV Central Committee headed by General Secretary To Lam will unite and lead the Vietnamese people in following a socialist path suited to Viet Nam's national conditions, successfully accomplishing the goals and tasks set by the 14th National Congress of the CPV, and ushering in a new era of national development.
Wang Yi said that under the new circumstances, China is ready to work with Viet Nam, guided by the important common understandings reached by the top leaders of the two Parties and the two countries, to stay focused on the strategic nature of bilateral relations, increase the mutual benefits of bilateral cooperation, highlight the particularity of China-Viet Nam friendship, strengthen high-level exchanges, enhance strategic mutual trust, deepen connectivity, expand practical cooperation in such areas as scientific and technological innovation, digital transformation and artificial intelligence, successfully organize activities including "Red Study Tours", step up people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and continue to advance the building of a China-Viet Nam community with a shared future.
Wang Yi emphasized that the world today is far from peaceful, and there has been disorder in many parts of the world at the start of the new year. As partners on the socialist path and good brothers with a shared future, China and Viet Nam should closely unite and cooperate, ensure the two priorities of both development and security, firmly defend the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order underpinned by international law, safeguard their legitimate rights and interests as well as the common interests of the Global South, and jointly serve as forces for peace, stability, and development amid the great changes unseen in a century.

Le Hoai Trung briefed Wang Yi on the main outcomes of the 14th National Congress of the CPV, noting that the CPV and Vietnamese people sincerely appreciate General Secretary Xi Jinping's congratulatory letter to General Secretary To Lam following the successful conclusion of the 14th National Congress of the CPV and the dispatch of a special envoy to Viet Nam to convey congratulations. This reflects the traditional friendship and high-degree mutual trust between the two Parties and the two countries, and will strongly advance the building of a Viet Nam-China community with a shared future. Guided by Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, China has made major achievements in economic and social development, notably the successful completion of the 14th Five-Year Plan, the accelerated high-quality development in innovation, green growth, and science and technology, and the continued advancement of Chinese modernization, making important contributions to global economic growth. The Vietnamese side expressed heartfelt congratulations on these achievements.
Le Hoai Trung stated that under the strategic guidance of the top leaders of the CPV and the CPC, Viet Nam and China have actively implemented the common goals characterized by "six mores", namely, stronger political mutual trust, more substantive security cooperation, deeper practical cooperation, more solid popular foundation, closer coordination and collaboration on multilateral affairs, and better management and resolution of differences. The two sides have achieved outstanding development in bilateral relations, deepened mutual understanding, strengthened political mutual trust, and enriched cooperation mechanisms. Viet Nam has consistently regarded its relations with China as a top priority and strategic choice, firmly adheres to the one-China policy, and opposes any form of "Taiwan independence" separatist activities. Viet Nam looks forward to working with China to become each other's reliable strategic partner, jointly plan the next phase of high-level exchanges, promote cooperation in economy, trade, investment, and emerging sectors, enhance multilateral coordination and collaboration, and jointly elevate the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership to a higher level.
