Thai Foreign Minister holds a bilateral meeting with Bruneian Foreign Minister II during the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat

Cebu, January 28 (AseanAll)  — On 28 January 2026, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a bilateral meeting with Dato Erywan Pehin Yusof, Minister of Foreign Affairs II of Brunei Darussalam, on the sideline of ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Cebu, the Philippines.

The Bruneian Foreign Minister expressed appreciation for Their Majesties the King and Queen’s message of well wishes for His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, following His Majesty’s knee replacement surgery, as well as the well wishes from the Thai Prime Minister.

The two Ministers agreed to move forward with the exchange of high-level visits and to advance cooperation through bilateral mechanisms, particularly in food security and economic cooperation in areas that are important for the future.

They also exchanged views on Thailand-Cambodia border situation after the ceasefire, and recent developments in Myanmar following the elections and the role of ASEAN in helping Myanmar continue to move forward the peace process and reconciliation.
