Bangkok, January 9 (AseanAll) — On January 8, 2026, Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei met with General Sawat Thasana, Chairman of the Committee on Military and State Security, Senate of Thailand at the Chinese Embassy in Thailand.

Zhang Jianwei welcomed General Sawat Thasana and his delegation, noting that His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn recently made a successful visit to China. Leaders of both countries had charted the course for the future development of China-Thailand relations. China is willing to work with Thailand to earnestly implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote the building of a China-Thailand community with a shared future to for more tangible results. China has played a constructive role in promoting a ceasefire and rebuilding mutual trust between Thailand and Cambodia. China is willing to continue providing support according to the needs of both countries.
Ambassador Zhang pointed out that scam has severely impacted Southeast Asian countries, and the Chinese government holds firm position on combating scam as that of the Thai government. Ambassador Zhang also briefed the Thai side on the historical context of the Taiwan question and praised Thailand's firm adherence to the one-China principle.

General Sawat Thasana stated that the sentiment of “China-Thailand is as close as one family” remains strong and enduring, and the Thai Senate is willing to actively support the Thai military in strengthening exchanges and cooperation with China.
