Manila, May 25 (AseanAll) — Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. on May 25, 2025 said the Philippines will push for an ethical and responsible framework for Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the 47th ASEAN Summit in Malaysia that is aligned with ASEAN values.
Before departing for Kuala Lumpur, Marcos reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to promoting an open, inclusive, and rules-based international order and peacefully resolving international law disputes.
“I will also highlight the Philippines’ commitment to the development of a common regional framework for ethical and responsible AI or Artificial Intelligence aligned with ASEAN values,” President Marcos said during the departure ceremony at the Villamor Air Base in Pasay City.
The President added that the initiative will help build a future-ready, competitive, people-centered, and sustainable ASEAN.
President Marcos also reiterated the Philippines’ dedication to deepening regional cooperation and enhancing the well-being of Filipinos and the Southeast Asian community.
At the summit, President Marcos said he will join fellow ASEAN leaders in affirming support for ASEAN Centrality amid regional and global challenges, including developments in the South China Sea and the situation in Myanmar.
Other key issues include regional peace and maritime security threats, climate change, economic instability, and digital disruption.
