Timor-Leste President and Prime Minister Discuss Government Updates and International Forums

Dili, April 10 (AseanAll)  — The President of the Republic of Timor-Leste, J. Ramos-Horta and Prime Minister Kay Rala Xanana Gusmão held their regular meeting on April 10,2025 at the Presidential Palace Nicolau Lobato, where they addressed various government activities from the past week.

During a brief interview after the meeting, Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana reported having updated the President on the recent Council of Ministers meeting, noting that no significant changes were introduced, except regarding the institutional arrangements of the Public Ministry’s functions.

The Head of Government also informed President Ramos-Horta that Timor-Leste hosted the Free Balance Steering Committee meeting, which was attended by representatives from various African, Asian, and Pacific countries. This forum focuses on the effective management of public financial systems, with the aim of ensuring more efficient allocation of resources for development initiatives, thus contributing to improving citizens’ quality of life.

Additionally, Xanana highlighted the beginning of the g7+ meeting, which starts today, explaining to the President the organization’s objectives, namely overcoming conflicts and promoting development among fragile states. The Prime Minister reiterated Timor-Leste’s ongoing commitment to the principles and collaborative efforts promoted by the g7+ group.
