“In agriculture, Cambodia stands ready to contribute to the Philippine food security through rice supply as well as many other food products,” Prime Minister Hun Manet said during a joint press conference with President Marcos in Malacañang on February 11, 2025, according to the Presidential Communications Office of the Philippines.

The President and the visiting Cambodian official discussed trade in agriculture, focusing on rice supply amid the impending El Niño threat during the 50th ASEAN-Australia Special Summit last year.

In terms of tourism and connectivity, the Cambodian leader invited Philippine airlines to explore additional flight routes in his country, as this is crucial for promoting exchanges among people.

“To support this initiative, Cambodia offers a new gateway to the world in our historical city of Angkor through our new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport and later this year in our vibrant capital, Techo International Airport in Phnom Penh,” Hun Manet said.

The Cambodian Prime Minister welcomed the eight agreements and memoranda of understanding signed by both nations, anticipating enhancing their interactions.

Hun Manet also recognized the valuable contributions of the Filipino community in Cambodia, which plays a significant role in its socio-economic development.

He also assured President Marcos of Cambodia’s full support for the Philippines’ chairing of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in 2026.

The Philippines and Cambodia established diplomatic ties in 1957. This year marks the 68th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
