International Finance Corporation (IFC) Intends to Explore Opportunities for Investment Expansion in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, December 17 (AseanAll)  — International Finance Corporation (IFC) has intended to explore opportunities to expand its investment in Cambodia in a number of key sectors, including renewable energy, logistics and transport, and finance.

The intention was underlined by Riccardo Puliti, IFC Regional Vice President for Asia and the Pacific, when he paid a courtesy call on Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet, at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, on December 16,2024.

The IFC regional vice president thanked the Cambodian ministries and institutions for their good cooperation with the IFC so far, and highly appreciated the Royal Government of Cambodia for maintaining peace, stability and economic growth, as well as for its attention and recognition of the important role of the private sector in contributing to Cambodia’s socio-economic development.

For his part, Hun Manet spoke highly of the IFC’s contribution to the socio-economic development in Cambodia. and welcomed its intention to seek opportunities to expand its investment in the Kingdom.

The Premier highlighted the Royal Government’s introduction of policies and priority attention to the renewable energy development to achieve its goal of using up to 70 percent of renewable energy by 2030, up from 62 percent currently, as well as to infrastructure development in the logistics and transport sector, including expressways, deep-water ports to ensure domestic and regional as well as international transport connectivity.

In addition, the Royal Government has strived to promote cooperation with regional and international countries on KHQR payment system, which has contributed to ensuring competitiveness and facilitating investment in the country, he said.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the IFC to continue collaborating with Cambodian relevant ministries and institutions in seizing opportunities to expand its investments in the Kingdom.
