(AseanAll) — Indonesian Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir formally took over leadership of Indonesia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs from his predecessor, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Sugiono, at Gedung Pancasila in Jakarta on October 10,2026. The occasion marked continuity in the Ministry’s leadership and reaffirmed the role of diplomacy in strengthening national resilience.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will carry forward Indonesia’s diplomatic priorities in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s vision for strengthening national resilience,” Arrmanatha said.

He emphasised that the Constitution and Indonesia’s independent and active foreign policy would continue to guide the country’s diplomacy. Priorities would remain focused on strengthening national resilience, building a strong region, and ensuring that multilateral institutions work effectively.
Arrmanatha paid tribute to Coordinating Minister Sugiono’s leadership and achievements during his tenure as Foreign Minister. These, he said, provided a strong foundation for advancing diplomacy that supports the economy and delivers tangible benefits to the Indonesian people.
To advance these priorities, Arrmanatha emphasised the importance of ensuring that Indonesia’s diplomatic missions remain adaptable, agile and equipped to respond to an increasingly complex global environment. He also underscored the need to strengthen the Ministry’s institutional capacity in support of the Golden Indonesia 2045 Vision.
Sugiono expressed his appreciation to all staff at the Ministry and Indonesia’s diplomatic missions for their dedication, professionalism, and support throughout his tenure. He also spoke of his pride in Indonesian diplomats for their work in representing the country and advancing its interests around the world.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has become a home to me. I am confident that, under Foreign Minister Arrmanatha Nasir’s leadership, it will grow into an even stronger institution and continue to give its best in service to the nation,” Sugiono said.
The transfer of responsibilities followed the swearing-in of members of the Merah Putih Cabinet by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto on 1 October 2026. Indonesian Deputy Foreign Ministers and senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs attended the event.
