Bangkok,September 4 (AseanAll) — On September 4, 2026, at Santi Maitri Building, Thai Government House, 76 members of the diplomatic corps, comprising ambassadors and consuls accredited to Thailand, and heads of international organizations based in the country, paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to hear his vision and policy directions of the Thai Government.
The Prime Minister welcomed the diplomatic corps, and stressed the importance of this meeting which was aimed at exchanging views, getting to know one another, and strengthen linkage and cooperation between the diplomatic corps and the Thai Government in order to build upon diplomatic relations towards concrete cooperation.
The Prime Minister then presented the vision for Thailand’s future. The country is now at a critical moment of transformation. The Government is advancing public sector reform while restructuring the economy toward future industries, new technologies, and high‑value economic activities. At the same time, Thailand is preparing for accession to the Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD), with the aim of elevating national standards, regulations, and institutions to align with international standards and to enhance long‑term confidence in the country.
According to the Prime Minister, foreign policy should play a role in creating new opportunities for the nation and its people. The Government views relations with partner countries not only in the diplomatic perspective, but also as a “gateway to opportunity” for investment, technology, knowledge, markets, and human capital development. Thailand, therefore, seeks to move beyond relations that focus solely on trade in goods and services, toward joint thinking, joint investment, and co‑creation, particularly in sectors that will shape the future of the global economy, i.e., digital economy, clean energy, advanced industries, food, and health.
Amid global uncertainty and changes, Thailand remains a stable and open country, ready to work with all nations while placing importance on friendship, trust, and partnership. The Prime Minister invited members of the diplomatic corps to find opportunities to engage with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, cabinet members, and the Thai trade representatives to exchange views and proposals, and explore new opportunities that could lead to concrete cooperation between Thailand and their respective country.
Looking ahead, the Prime Minister highlighted Thailand’s key foreign missions which include his upcoming visits to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly and the Pre-COP31 in Fiji in September; Thailand’s hosting of the 2026 Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank Group in Bangkok in October; and the ASEAN Summit in November. The Government will leverage these platforms to showcase Thailand’s potential, expand cooperation, and create new opportunities for the nation.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister affirmed that the Thai Government places great importance to promoting relations with all countries and stands ready to work with the international community to “grow together,” while fostering resilience, security, and shared prosperity in a rapidly changing world.
This meeting demonstrated the Government’s foreign policy direction to maintain good relations with all nations, while leveraging international cooperation to create economic opportunities, and promote technology and national development. It also underscored Thailand’s role as a partner who is ready to face challenges and advance alongside the global community.
