Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei Visits Chiang Rai Province

Chiang Rai, May 30 (AseanAll)  — From May 27-29, 2026,Chinese Ambassador to Thailand Zhang Jianwei visited Chiang Rai Province, Thailand. 

During his visit, Zhang Jianwei  met with Mr. Chucheep Pongchai, the Governor of Chiang Rai, visited the Mae Sai border crossing and the China-Thailand-Myanmar-Laos Joint Mekong River Patrol and Law Enforcement Center. Ambassador Zhang Jianwei visited Mae Fah Luang University, delivered a special speech on new opportunities in China-Thailand relations, and visited the Chinese communities and Chinese schools.

Zhang Jianwei  briefed the "15th Five-Year National Economic and Social Development Plan" and stated that the current relationship between China and Thailand has strong development momentum. China is willing to strengthen cooperation with Chiang Rai and other provinces in northern Thailand, expanding potential cooperation in various fields such as port economy, tourism and culture, connectivity, law enforcement and security, to promote a China-Thailand community with a shared future as well as the development and prosperity of the Mekong sub-region.

The Governor of Chiang Rai Province and others praised China's achievements in economic and social development, expressing their willingness to learn from China's successful experience to promote local agricultural, educational, and logistics development, and to leverage geographical advantages to further export agricultural products to China. Overseas Chinese expressed their willingness to actively participation to promote the friendship between China and Thailand and contribute to the monumental task of national reunification and rejuvenation.
