Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Pays a Courtesy Call on Speaker of Myanmar’s Union Parliament and Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw

(AseanAll)  — On May 20th,2026, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia paid a courtesy call on U Aung Lin Dwe, newly elected Speaker of Myanmar’s Union Parliament and Speaker of Amyotha Hluttaw, in Nay Pyi Taw. Deputy Speaker Jeng Phang Naw Taung and Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Shen Dan were present at the meeting.

Ma Jia extended congratulations on his election and briefed him on the exchanges and cooperation between China and Myanmar across various fields. She noted that China firmly supports Myanmar’s development and stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries to further consolidate the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

U Aung Lin Dwe elaborated on the new Myanmar government’s efforts to safeguard domestic peace and stability and boost socioeconomic growth. He spoke highly of China’s development and opportunities it brings to neighboring countries including Myanmar. He thanked China for assistance and support for Myanmar’s socioeconomic progress following the earthquake in Mandalay, and looked forward to deeper bilateral cooperation in legislation, economy, trade, investment, border security and other fields.
