(AseanAll) — On May 18, 2026, at the Thai Government House, Ms. Cecilia Zunilda Galarreta Bazán, Ambassador of the Republic of Peru to Thailand, paid a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul on occasion of her completion of tenure.

The Prime Minister and the Ambassador of Peru had a cordial meeting, during which the Ambassador expressed appreciation toward Thailand for continuous cooperation extended to Peru. Thailand and Peru have long forged close relations and cooperation. Throughout her tenure as the Peruvian Ambassador to Thailand, she is deeply honored to contribute to the elevation of Thai–Peruvian relations and reinforcement of cooperation in multiple dimensions.
With regard to economic cooperation, both sides welcomed progress in the negotiations toward a Thailand–Peru Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and expressed hope that the negotiations be finalized to enable the signing of the FTA within this year.
On food security, as Thailand and Peru are countries with strong agricultural potential, the two parties agreed that there remain ample opportunities to expand cooperation in the future. The Prime Minister affirmed Thailand’s readiness to serve as a key source of food supply for Peru, as well as for the whole South American region.
On logistics, the Ambassador mentioned Peru’s Chancay Port project, in which Thailand could participate. The project will enhance connectivity in logistics and supply chains, and promote trade linkages between South America and ASEAN, with Thailand as a major gateway for the region.
In closing, the Prime Minister thanked the Ambassador of Peru for her endeavors in promoting Thai–Peruvian relations and wished for the continued success in her duties. He emphasized that the Ambassador will always remain a good friend of Thailand, and extended a warm welcome for her future visits to the country at any opportunity.
