(AseanAll)  — On May 9, 2026, at the Shangri-La Mactan Hotel, Cebu, Republic of the Philippines, Thai Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul had a bilateral meeting with President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr. of the Republic of the Philippines during his attendance at the 48th ASEAN Summit.  

Anutin commended the Philippines for its excellent hosting of the 48th ASEAN Summit, which proceeded smoothly and yielded tangible outcomes. The meetings reflected commitment of all concerned parties to seek cooperation for shared success.

He also appreciated the Philippines for initiating the trilateral meeting, which provided an opportunity for candid and constructive exchanges, resulting in common understanding on several key issues. The Philippines has played a significant role in fostering an atmosphere of cooperation and trust. The outcome of the discussions was satisfactory and marked another important step in strengthening stability, peace, and constructive cooperation in the region, with all parties agreeing to work together in advancing positive and concrete results.

The two leaders also discussed cooperation in several areas, including food security, trade, investment, and energy, with the aim of reinforcing regional stability and security.
