Manila, March 13 (AseanAll) — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) of the Philippines , through the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, facilitated the repatriation of 24 distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who had been unable to secure outbound flights from Jeddah due to limited flight availability amid the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
The partnership between the Philippine Consulate General and Singapore Consulate General both in Jeddah facilitated the accommodation of the 24 OFWs on a Singapore-organized repatriation flight.
The OFWs departed King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah at 4:00 p.m. on 12 March 2026. They arrived in Singapore at 6:00 a.m. on 13 March 2026, where they were assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Singapore with their onward travel to the Philippines.
The Migrant Workers Office and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Jeddah facilitated the booking of their flights to Manila and also extended financial assistance.
The Philippine Consulate General expressed its appreciation to the Singapore Consulate General for its assistance in the repatriation. The DFA likewise conveys its sincere appreciation to the Government of Singapore for this benevolent act, which exemplifies the ASEAN spirit of solidarity.
The DFA, through its Foreign Service Posts and in line with the One Country Team Approach, remains committed to protecting the welfare of Filipinos overseas and ensuring their safe return home.
