Outgoing Singaporean Ambassador to Cambodia Expresses Strong Confidence that Cambodia–Singapore Relations and Cooperation Will Continue to Grow

Phnom Penh, March 3 (AseanAll)  —  On the morning of 2 March 2026, HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a farewell call from Ms TEO Lay Cheng, Ambassador of the Republic of Singapore to the Kingdom of Cambodia.

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed her deep gratitude to HUN Manet for taking time out of his busy schedule to receive her and her delegation. She also conveyed her appreciation to the Royal Government of Cambodia and relevant ministries for their support in strengthening Cambodia–Singapore relations throughout her tenure. The Ambassador expressed her satisfaction and high appreciation for the excellent cooperation between the two countries and noted her pride in completing her diplomatic mission in Cambodia, during which she witnessed the country’s significant achievements, including its effective response to COVID-19, the successful hosting of the ASEAN Summit and related meetings, as well as the organisation of the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games. She reaffirmed her strong belief that relations and cooperation between the two countries will continue to grow.

In response, HUN Manet highly commended the contributions of Ms TEO Lay Cheng to strengthening the ties between Cambodia and Singapore. He also congratulated her on her new position.HUN Manet expressed his high appreciation for Singapore’s role in supporting and promoting efforts towards a ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. On this occasion, the Prime Minister highlighted the significant potential for Cambodia and Singapore to further strengthen and expand their cooperation in key areas, including the economy, trade and investment, education, and vocational training.

Regarding the Cambodia–Thailand border issue, HUN Manet briefed Ms TEO Lay Cheng on recent developments and emphasised Cambodia’s firm commitment to resolving border issues peacefully, in accordance with international law, relevant conventions and treaties, and existing bilateral agreements. Her Excellency expressed her hope that the matter would be resolved through peaceful means.
