(AseanAll) — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto emphasized the direction of national economic policy, relying on the strengthened domestic foundations. In his remark at the Indonesia Economic Outlook 2026, the President stated that the goal of becoming a developed nation must be built with a measurable strategy, primarily through optimal management of all national resources for the greatest prosperity of the people.

“We dream high but still realistic. The important thing is that we must safeguard and manage all of the nation’s wealth and our natural resources to be utilized to the fullest extent possible for the benefit of all Indonesian people. That is our purpose,” he said at the Wisma Danantara Indonesia Auditorium in Jakarta on on February 13, 2026.
The President emphasized that strengthening the national economy should be started from our home country by building independence and competitiveness. Indonesia, according to the President, must be able to stand on its own two feet and no longer depend on external forces.
“We will prove to the world that Indonesia today is a confident nation, a nation that understands and decides to stand on its own two feet, and does not want and will not be dictated to by other nations or pushed around by any other countries anymore,” the President said.
From the economic indicator perspectives, he said that various policies implemented over the past year have shown a real impact. The Head of State said that a number of regional heads have submitted reports indicating an increase in household consumption in their regions.
“For the past few days or weeks, I have been receiving reports from regional heads, several governors, and regents. They are currently seeing the real results, the real impact of our various policies,” he said.
In addition to increased consumption, the President said that reports from the regions show a downward trend in poverty and unemployment rates, an increase in the number of people employed, and an improvement in the Gini ratio. This demonstrates that all Government’s economic policies are focused solely for the benefit of the people.
“We always face those who look down on our nation, and that’s nothing. For us, it is a wake-up call to work even better. We work for our people; we do not work to please others; we work for our people,” he said.
The economic self-reliance strategy is not only a slogan, but also a concrete policy direction, relying on national strength, equitable welfare, and the courage to make strategic decisions for the benefit of the Indonesian people.
