Thai Foreign Minister holds bilateral meeting with Lao Foreign Minister on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat

Cebu, January 29 (AseanAll)  — On 29 January 2026, Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs, held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Thongsavanh Phomvihane, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Lao PDR, on the sidelines of the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Retreat in Cebu, the Philippines.

Both Ministers were pleased with the close and strong relations between Thailand and the Lao PDR. They discussed upcoming high-level visits, energy cooperation, and key connectivity projects that will benefit both peoples. These include the new Mekong railway bridge connecting Nong Khai and Vientiane, and the proposed 6th Thai - Lao Friendship Bridge (Ubon Ratchathani - Salavan).

They also exchanged views on Thailand - Cambodia border situation, and developments in Myanmar following the elections.
