Director-General of Chinese Foreign Ministry Meets with Outgoing Ambassador of Myanmar to China

Beijing, January 5 (AseanAll)  — On January 5, 2026, Director-General of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Foreign Ministry Liu Jinsong met with outgoing Ambassador of Myanmar to China Tin Maung Swe.

Liu Jinsong spoke highly of Tin Maung Swe's hard work during his three-year tenure, noting his important contributions to advancing China-Myanmar friendship. Liu Jinsong stated that Chinese President Xi Jinping met with Myanmar's leader Min Aung Hlaing twice in 2025, reaching important common understandings on accelerating the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future. Under the guidance of the leaders of both countries, the comprehensive strategic cooperation between China and Myanmar has continued to deepen, major cooperative projects have been steadily advanced, and the two sides have closely coordinated in international and regional affairs while firmly supporting each other on issues concerning their respective core interests. 

Liu Jinsong expressed the hope that Ambassador Tin Maung Swe will continue to care about and support the cause of China-Myanmar friendship after leaving his post.

Tin Maung Swe emphasized that Myanmar adheres to the one-China principle, regards China as its most important neighbor and most trustworthy partner, and expressed gratitude for China's constructive assistance in Myanmar's peace, reconciliation, and livelihood development, as well as for the recent visit of the Chinese observer mission to Myanmar to observe the general election. Myanmar is willing to work with China to promote new progress in building a Myanmar-China community with a shared future.
