Indonesia Begins Bulk Exports of Frozen Durians to China

(AseanAll)  — On December 15,2025, Indonesia shipped 48 tons of frozen durians worth about IDR 5.1 billion (USD 305,000) from Jakarta to Qingdao, officially opening direct access for Indonesian frozen durians to the Chinese market.

The export represents an important outcome of enhanced cooperation between the two governments on agricultural market access and quarantine supervision. In May this year, China’s General Administration of Customs and Indonesia’s National Quarantine Agency (Barantin) signed a protocol on the export of frozen durians to China. Under the agreement, frozen durians exported to China will be subject to full traceability requirements to ensure product quality and food safety.

Indonesia is one of the world’s major durian producers, with total output approaching 2 million tons in 2024. The entry of Indonesian frozen durians into the Chinese market is expected to diversify consumer choices and inject new momentum into China–Indonesia agricultural trade cooperation.
