Secretary-General of ASEAN meets with the Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines

Manila, November 28 (AseanAll)  — Secretary-General of ASEAN, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn met with Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines, Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro, in Manila on November 28, 2025, during his working visit to the Republic of the Philippines. 

The meeting focused on ways to advance ASEAN’s priorities under the ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC), particularly in preparations for the Philippines’ ASEAN Chairmanship in 2026. Next year will be marked with several important highlights, including the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC), and the launch of the second edition of the ASEAN Maritime Outlook, among others.

They also exchanged views on the follow-up to the outcomes of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, as part of efforts to ensure continuity and momentum in the ASEAN Community-building process and preparations for the first year of implementing ASEAN 2045: Our Shared Future.

Dr. Kao reaffirmed the ASEAN Secretariat’s unwavering support in delivering the Philippines’ key priorities and deliverables under the theme “Navigating Our Future Together.”
