Brunei and Pakistan hold the 7th Joint Defense Working Committee (JDWC) meeting

(AseanAll)  — The Ministry of Defence of Brunei Darussalam and the Ministry of Defence of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan held the 7th Joint Defence Working Committee (JDWC) meeting at Rizqun International Hotel, in Gadong, Brunei, on 14 October 2025.

The meeting was co-chaired by Yang Mulia Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Brunei Darussalam, and Rear Admiral Amir Mahmood HI(M), Acting Secretary of Defence and Additional Secretary-III (AS-III), Ministry of Defence, Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Defence and military officials from both countries were also in attendance.

During the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen and deepen bilateral relations. The panel observed discussions around the progress on the bilateral defence cooperation and prospects for potential areas of future bilateral cooperation. 

On the sidelines of the JDWC meeting, Rear Admiral Amir Mahmood HI(M) had a courtesy call on Yang Mulia Brigadier General (Retired) Dato Seri Pahlawan Alirupendi bin Haji Perudin. Also, in attendance was Janbaz Khan, High Commissioner of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Brunei Darussalam. In addition to that, Rear Admiral Amir Mahmood HI(M) and the delegation also had the opportunity to visit the Royal Brunei Land Forces, the Royal Brunei Navy, Balai Khazanah Islam Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Royal Regalia Museum. 

The JDWC meeting between the two countries was established through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding on Defence Cooperation on 19 May 2004. The meeting serves as a platform for both defence establishments to exchange views on matters of mutual concern as well as to discuss current and future defence cooperation.
