Chinese Foreign Minister Meets with Chief Executive of HKSAR

Beijing, March 16 (AseanAll)  — On March 16, 2023, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang met with Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) John Lee Ka-chiu in Beijing. 


According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China,they exchanged views on Hong Kong-related diplomatic work.

John Lee Ka-chiu thanked the Foreign Ministry for its strong support to the HKSAR government over the years, especially in opposition to interference, upholding “One Country, Two Systems” and promoting Hong Kong’s foreign exchanges and cooperation. He expressed the hope to continuously receive guidance and support from the Foreign Ministry in Hong Kong’s foreign affairs.

Qin Gang said that the Foreign Ministry has always supported the HKSAR government in exercising lawful administration and comprehensively and accurately implementing “One Country, Two Systems”. Guided by the Xi Jinping Thought on Diplomacy, the Foreign Ministry will continue to support, guide and assist Hong Kong in its diplomatic work related to Hong Kong, resolutely safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, and promote Hong Kong’s long-term prosperity and stability.
