Cambodian PM Receives Visiting Senior Vietnamese Military Officer

Phnom Penh, June 4 (AseanAll)  — Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, in a courtesy call at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh on the morning of June 4,2025.

During the meeting, Sen. Lt. Gen. Nguyen Tan Cuong praised Cambodia’s development across all sectors and highlighted the traditional, long-standing friendship between Cambodia and Vietnam. He expressed hope that regular meetings between the top leaders of both countries would continue to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in all areas.

He also briefed Hun Manet on the positive outcomes of ongoing Cambodia–Vietnam military cooperation. In particular, both sides agreed to further promote collaboration in human resource training within the national defence sector—an essential pillar in deepening the partnership between the two nations, he stressed.

For his part, Hun Manet expressed strong support for enhancing cooperation between Cambodia and Vietnam in key areas, including infrastructure connectivity, trade, and joint efforts to combat cross-border crime.

The Prime Minister also highly appreciated the Vietnamese army’s continued support in training Cambodian personnel in the defence sector, noting that this assistance has played a vital role in strengthening the friendship between the two peoples.
