Cambodia Warns Thailand Not to Cross Red Line over Ta Moan Thom Temple

Phnom Penh, July 1 (AseanAll)  — Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia warned Thailand not to cross the red line regarding the Ta Moan Thom Temple.

Speaking at the celebration of the 20th National Fisheries Day 2025, held at Boeung Tonle Bati in Kraing Thnong commune, Bati district, Takeo province, on July 1,2025, the Cambodian Premier emphasised that Ta Moan Thom Temple is located in a disputed area, and Thailand has no right to prevent Cambodian citizens from visiting the site. Doing so, he warned, would constitute crossing a red line and could lead to serious consequences.

The warning followed a statement by a Thai leader, who claimed that the Thai government had authorised its military to control access to the Ta Moan Thom Temple.

“You can stop your own people from going there — that is your right. But Cambodia also has the right to open the temple to its own people,” Hun Manet said.

Hun Manet added that the Mom Bei area, along with the Ta Moan Thom, Ta Moan Tauch, and Ta Krabei temple complexes, are sensitive zones. Cambodia has submitted the matter to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to seek a permanent and lasting resolution.
