Brunei Ministry of Defence attends the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025

Langkawi, May 20 (AseanAll)  — Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Retired) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof,  Brunei Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II, led a Ministry of Defence delegation to the 17th Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition 2025 (LIMA’25), held from 20 to 24 May 2025 at the Mahsuri International Exhibition Centre (MIEC), Langkawi, Malaysia.

The delegation of Yang Berhormat Pehin also included Yang Mulia Brigadier General (U) Dato Seri Pahlawan Mohammad Sharif bin Dato Paduka Haji Ibrahim, Deputy Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF); Yang Mulia Colonel (U) Haji Haszahaidi bin Haji Ahmad Daud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Air Force (RBAirF); and senior officers from the RBAF.

The 17th edition of LIMA, themed ‘Innovate Today, Thrive Tomorrow’, is a biennial event recognised as The Nexus of Maritime and Aerospace Trade. It brings together the best of the aerospace and maritime industries and is one of the largest exhibitions of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region. This prestigious international defence exhibition is co-organised by the Malaysian Ministry of Defence and Global Exhibitions and Conferences Sdn Bhd, with support from the Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police, and the Malaysian Defence Industry Council (MDIC). The exhibition was officially opened on May 20,2025 by Yang Amat Berhormat Dato’ Seri Diraja Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia.

The Royal Brunei Air Force’s (RBAirF) S-70i Black Hawk was also featured in the LIMA’25 Aircraft Static Display, alongside aircraft from various countries such as the United States, Russia, Brazil, Germany, Singapore, Indonesia, India, Austria, Czech Republic, Turkiye and China. The participation of the RBAirF in the LIMA’25 Aircraft Static Display reflects the close ties with Malaysia and reinforces the commitment of the Ministry of Defence and RBAF to advancing defence technology and national capabilities.

On the sidelines of LIMA’25,Brunei Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Minister of Defence II also held a bilateral meeting with Yang Berhormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia. Both sides reaffirmed the strong defence relations between Brunei Darussalam and Malaysia and exchanged views on various strategic issues of mutual interest, including the current regional and global security landscape. In addition, Yang Berhormat Pehin also received a courtesy call from His Excellency Major General Ahmed Salih Ahmed Aboud, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Sudan. 

This year’s LIMA’25 featured over 800 exhibitors from 30 countries representing the regional and international defence, security, and commercial sectors and attended by Defence and Transport Ministers, Service Chiefs, and senior officials from around the world.
