Phnom Penh, March 28 (AseanAll) — Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh Hun San, the eldest brother of Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen, passed away on March 28 at 2:27 a.m. at the age of 78 due to illness.

In a heartfelt Facebook post on March 28 , Hun Sen, former Prime Minister of Cambodia, expressed his deep sorrow. “My brother has passed away. Even if I don’t want to accept it, I have to accept this reality,” he wrote. “He sacrificed so much for his younger siblings. He gave up his secondary school studies to help our parents with farming so that his younger siblings, especially me, could have the opportunity to study in Phnom Penh.”
Hun San was born on July 6, 1948, in Peam Koh Sla commune, Stung Trang district, Kampong Cham province, Cambodia. He was the eldest of six children in a farming family. He was married to Lok Chumteav Chroeung Kimhen, and together they had five children.
Throughout his career, Hun San held various positions before being appointed Secretary of State at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport of Cambodia in 2022.
On July 14, 2023, he was granted the title of Neak Oknha Oudom Metreivisidh by Cambodian King in recognition of his dedication to national development and his contributions to support the underprivileged in Cambodia.
