Brunei launches first special needs school

Bandar Seri Begawan, July 5 (AseanAll)  — Brunei officially launched the country's first school for special needs students.

According to Brunei's media Borneo Bulletin, on July 4, 2024, Brunei's Prince Abdul Mateen, as the guest of honour, officiated the opening of the Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam School and associated facilities.

The prince said at the ceremony that it is not just an organization or a building, it is a place where every child, regardless of their abilities, will have the opportunity to learn and grow, according to Pelita Brunei, an official media of Brunei.

The school employs a holistic approach to education, offers rehabilitation services, and aims to create an empowering and nurturing environment where every individual can thrive, according to the reports.

Brunei is an oil-rich country located in the northern part of the Borneo island, with a population of 450,000 and a high level of social welfare.Brunei is also the least populous country in the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations( ASEAN).
