Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh meets Chinese Vice President Han Zheng in France

Nice, June 9 (AseanAll)  — Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Chinese Vice President Han Zheng on the sidelines of the 3rd United Nations Ocean Conference in Nice, France on June 9, 2025,according to Vietnamese government portal(VGP).

Pham Minh Chinh conveyed warm regards from Vietnamese General Secretary To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man to General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese leaders.

He affirmed that the Party and State of Viet Nam highly value Xi's Viet Nam visit in April this year, saying the practical outcomes of the visit have provided strategic directions for the development of the relations between the two sides.

Both sides agreed to continue concritizing and effectively implementing the high-level common perceptions reached during the aforesaid visit; promote the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership with the motto of "six more" : more political trust, more substantive defence-security cooperation, more practical and deeper cooperation, more solid social foundation, more close-knitted multilateral coordination, and more control and resolution of disagreements.

The two leaders also agreed to maintain regular high-level exchanges; boost economic, trade and investment cooperation; expand cooperation in science and technology and innovation to make it the new driving force of the bilateral ties.

Pham Minh Chinh said Viet Nam is determined to commence the construction of the Lao Cai-Ha Noi-Hai Phong railway project in 2025, calling on the Chinese side to provide concessional loans, transfer technology and help Viet Nam train human resources for this project.

Han, for his side, spoke highly of the positive growth momentum of the Viet Nam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

China stands ready to coordinate closely with Viet Nam in realizing the common perceptions reached by top leaders of the two countries; strengthen high-level strategic exchanges, consolidate political trust; and boost substantive cooperation to bring pracitical benetits to people of the two countries, he affirmed.

Earlier the same day, Pham Minh Chinh had a bilateral meeting with Prime Minister of Tuvalu Feleti Teo, during which they discussed measures to strengthen consultation, coordination, and mutual support at multilateral forums and on international and regional issues of shared concern, including promoting collaboration between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Pacific island nations, and supporting Viet Nam's and ASEAN’s position on the South China Sea(Viet Nam calls it the East Sea).
