Chinese,Indonesian police arrest 88 suspects for nude-chat extortion

Beijing, August 31 (AseanAll)  — China's Ministry of Public Security (MPS)  announced on August 31 that the Chinese police cooperated with the Indonesian police to successfully break up a large criminal gang engaged in cross-border nude-chat extortion in Batam Island, Indonesia, and successfully arrested 88 suspects of telecom and Internet fraud.

Recently, the MPS organized the public security organs in Beijing, Shandong and other places to conduct in-depth research and analysis of a number of nude-chat extortion cases, and through line tracking and detailed investigation, the task force found that the fraud dens are located in Indonesia, and initially identified the identity of some of the suspects.

On August 23, the MPS sent a working group to Indonesia to cooperate with the Indonesian police in cracking down on telecom and Internet fraud crimes.

On August 29, the Indonesian police organized the first batch of centralized net collection operations, and destroyed a large telecommunications network fraud crime cell located in Batam Island, Indonesia, successfully captured 88 telecommunications network fraud suspects, and seized more than 80 computers, more than 200 mobile phones and a large number of bank cards and other criminal tools.

After preliminary investigation, more than 40 nude-chat extortion cases involving many places in China were carried out by the criminal gang, and relevant cases are under further investigation.

In recent years, the crime of nude chat extortion has become a serious and frequent type of new crime in the field of telecom and Internet fraud.

At present, the Indonesian police have agreed to hand over the suspects to the Chinese side, and the MPS will soon organize the police to escort the 88 suspects back to China.

The MPS pledged to maintain a tough stance against cross-border cyber and wire fraud and intensify international cooperation in police enforcement.
