Bandar Seri Begawan, August 30 (AseanAll) —The Indonesian Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan held the 2023 People's Market as a series of activities to commemorate the 78th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia in Brunei Darussalam on August 27,2023.

The event was attended by 2500 people and was an opportunity for Indonesians to remedy their homesickness while abroad.
"This People's Market has become a routine event for Indonesians in Brunei to stay in touch with friends and relatives, as well as a small way to treat homesickness," said Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam, Dr. Achmad Ubaedillah.

Various MSMEs in 51 stands owned by Indonesians in Brunei sold a variety of typical Indonesian products, ranging from food, beverages, to crafts and fabrics. There are also various service stands such as money transfer services, logistics, travel tickets to Indonesia, and education services. From the two days of implementation, it was recorded that the turnover was more than BND 40 thousand or around Rp. 450 million and the value of remittance transactions worth more than BND 36 thousand or around Rp. 41 million.

Two service booths that were also packed with visitors were the BPJS Employment and PPLN (Foreign Election Committee) booths. PPLN KBRI Bandar Seri Begawan opened opportunities for Indonesian citizens who have not been registered in the Permanent Voter List (DPT) to update their data.
Next year's elections received special attention from Ambassador Ubaedillah. "Parties may differ, opinions may not be the same, but we are all the nation's children. Therefore, I hope that everyone can maintain order and togetherness for the implementation of successful, orderly elections, and respect the laws of Brunei Darussalam," said Ambassador Ubaedillah.
Cheers of joy also coloured traditional August competitions such as tug-of-war and children's competitions. To enliven the atmosphere, an entertainment stage was held featuring regional dances and arts, bands performing popular songs, karaoke, and folk music by Indonesian community groups in Brunei. This activity also featured an internal radio podcast during the activity and the distribution of attractive door prizes.
