Myanmar delegation attends the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings

 (AseanAll)  — Myanmar delegation led by U Hau Khan Sum, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting and Related Meetings held in Manila, the Philippines, from 18 to 24 July 2026.

Myanmar delegation participated in the Meeting of the Southeast Asia Nuclear-Weapon-Free Zone (SEANWFZ) Commission and the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Interface with the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) on 20th July 2026, as well as the Plenary and Retreat Sessions of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 21st July 2026.

On the following day, Myanmar delegation attended the Post Ministerial Conferences (PMC) 11+1 Sessions with ASEAN’s Dialogue Partners, namely India, the United States of America, Canada, Republic of Korea, Japan, the Russian Federation, China, Australia, New Zealand, European Union and the United Kingdom. The Permanent Secretary, together with the Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation, co-chaired the ASEAN Post Ministerial Conference with Russia.


Subsequently, Myanmar delegation participated in the 27th ASEAN Plus Three Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum and the 16th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on 23rd July 2026. Myanmar delegation also attended the Commemorative Activity of the 50th Anniversary of the Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in Southeast Asia (TAC) and the High-Level Conference of the High Contracting Parties of the TAC on 24th July 2026.

The head of Myanmar delegation briefed the developments in Myanmar, including the priorities of the Myanmar Government at the Retreat Session of the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, the 33rd ASEAN Regional Forum, and the 16th East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting.
