Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Pays a Courtesy Call on Myanmar’s Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi

Nay Pyi Taw, May 20 (AseanAll)  — On May 19th,2026, Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Ma Jia paid a courtesy call on Myanmar’s newly elected speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw U Khin Yi in Nay Pyi Taw. 

The meeting was attended by Myanmar’s Deputy Speaker of the Pyithu Hluttaw U Maung Maung Ohn and Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar Shen Dan.

Ma Jia congratulated U Khin Yi on his election and briefed him on the latest progress of China-Myanmar relations. She noted that China firmly supports Myanmar’s development and stands ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries to further consolidate the building of a China-Myanmar community with a shared future.

U Khin Yi elaborated on the main functions and institutional setup of Myanmar’s Union Parliament and highlighted recent work, including the advancement of the Anti-Online Scam Bill. He expressed gratitude for China’s generous assistance following the earthquake in Mandalay, stressing that Myanmar and China are comprehensive strategic partners. Myanmar will, as always, firmly uphold the one-China principle and looks forward to conducting more exchanges and cooperation with China.
