Washington D.C., February 19 (AseanAll) — In a bid to enhance Indonesia’s investment climate, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto has reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to improving governance and eradicating illegal practices detrimental to the state.
“We have weaknesses. We have problems with good governance. We have corruption issues. We have problems with weak institutional performance,” he said in his remarks at the roundtable session of the Business Summit held during his official visit to Washington, D.C., the United States of America, on February 18,2026.

The President further pointed out that while implementing reforms is not easy and may lead to rejection, legal certainty and strong governance are key to investor trust.
“Therefore, we intend to improve. We must do it with all our might because in my view, as someone who was once an investor in a certain country, no one wants to enter an economy that is full of uncertainty, that has no trust in legal processes and legal enforcement,” he said.
On that occasion, the President emphasized that stability, reform, and fiscal discipline would strengthen Indonesia’s credibility as a global investment destination while ensuring tangible benefits for its people.
“We drive the economy from the grassroots. Our economic strategies are coherent. First, we want to have the ability to maintain growth, but we need to control the economy, which means ensuring that our natural resources are used wisely and sustainably,” he remarked.
