Jakarta, January 21 (AseanAll) — On 20 January 2026, Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Wang Qing presented his letter of credence as the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to ASEAN to Secretary-General of ASEAN Dr. Kao Kim Hourn in Jakarta.

Wang Qing stated that ASEAN has always been a priority in China’s neighborhood diplomacy. Over the past 35 years since the two sides established dialogue relations, China and ASEAN have forged ahead hand in hand, contributed to each other’s successes and yielded fruitful results in their cooperation across the board. This year marks the beginning of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan period and the 5th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, which presents new opportunities for deepening cooperation between the two sides. China stands ready to synergize development strategies and deepen cooperation in various fields with ASEAN to jointly foster a peaceful, safe and secure, prosperous, beautiful and amicable home, and build a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
Dr. Kao welcomed Ambassador Wang to his new post, emphasizing that China is one of ASEAN’s most important partners and that ASEAN commends China’s contributions to regional peace, stability and prosperity. The ASEAN Secretariat will actively support the work of Ambassador Wang and work closely with the Chinese Mission to ASEAN to bring the China-ASEAN relations to a new high.
